The Author
Dr. Guy Shaked, author of the book “Breaking the Code? Poetic meter in biblical poetry”, holds a master’s degree in musicology from the Hebrew University (2000) on the subject: “Music terms in the poetry of Immanuel of Rome” and a PhD in Jewish art from Bar Ilan University (2021) on the subject: “Music, image and text in Hebrew Medieval manuscript illustrations”. Currently Guy is a postdoctoral researcher at The Department of Jewish History and Contemporary Jewry at Bar-Ilan University.
Guy won the President’s Scholarship at Bar Ilan University (2015-2019) and has so far published two articles in leading journals. In addition to academic research, Guy writes poetry and has published poems in leading poetry magazines in Israel (Moznaim, Iton77, Nanopoetica, Nachon), as well as a composer of modern-classical music.
At the same time as studying the humanities, Guy worked for twenty years as a database programmer, in an information management system called “Magic”. Today he is partially engaged in teaching and maintaining WordPress websites.
Two of his articles were recently published in leading academic journals, but this book did not go through the traditional path accepted for articles and books in today’s academia – namely peer review – a path designed to ensure the quality of the research, but which may sometimes take years. Therefore, the conclusions of this study and its methodology presented in the book are subject to the judgment of the general public and academics as they are – they may be accepted, they may be rejected, but they did not take years to see the light of day.
